Cities of art and country by Coach with escorted excursions

PROGRAM:

DAY 1
Arrival in Pisa or Florence Airport and transfer by private car or shared transfer to the reserved hotel. Accommodation in hotel and free time at disposal. Dinner and overnight. (*)

DAY 2 – Pisa and Lucca (Monday, Thursday and Saturday)
Breakfast in Hotel and departure for the guided visit of Pisa & Lucca. The escorted tour starts from Montecatini Terme by coach. The first stop will be in Pisa, the city worldwide known for its Leaning Tower and for its architectonic masterpieces. Once arrived in Pisa our guide will lead you to the famous Miracles Square explaining the wonders of this square. You will admire The Leaning Tower (exterior), the Baptistery (exterior) and other beautiful monuments before entering inside the Cathedral (interior). At the end of the visit you will have free time for photos and for lunch (not included) before departing for Lucca.
In Lucca you will meet the local guide, who will lead you for a pleasant walk into the enchanting historical centre where you will have the chance to admire the Anfiteatro Square, the Guinigi Tower, San Martino Dome and the typical “antique dealers street”. The guided visit in Lucca will end in a local pastry shop where you’ll taste the Buccellato, typical cake of Lucca. Return in the town of your stay. Dinner and overnight (*).

DAY 3 – Florence (every day except Monday)
Breakfast in hotel and departure by train, to reach the meeting point of the excursion in Florence for a walking guided visit of the city. Our visit will start inside the Academy Gallery, where you will admire some of the most important Michelangelo’s sculptures as The Prisoners, Saint Matthew and obviously the well renowned David. At the end of the visit you will have free time for lunch until 1.30 p.m. when we’ll meet for the second part of the tour in Repubblica Square in front of the Paskowsky Cafè. We’ll continue with a pleasant walk through the most fascinating and interesting place of Florence as the Cathedral with Brunelleschi’s Dome, The Baptistery with its famous Gates of Paradise, Signoria Square with its Palazzo Vecchio and Loggia dei Lanzi.
We will conclude the tour discovering Uffizi Gallery with its famous collections of Italian Renaissance paintings. The tour will finish enjoying a beautiful view of Florence, from Uffizi Terrace. It is possible to remain inside the museum until closing time.
Return in the town of your stay. Dinner and overnight in hotel (*).

DAY 4 – Day off
Breakfast in hotel and free time at disposal. Dinner and overnight in hotel. (*)

DAY 5 – Siena, S. Gimignano and Chianti (every day)
Breakfast in hotel and departure for a full day excursion of Siena, S.Gimignano and Chianti. The escorted tour will start from Florence by coach so you have to reach the pick up point in Florence by train, from the nearest rail station of the hotel. The first stop of the tour will be Monteriggioni, well known worldwide for its wine and its countryside of unrivalled charm, where woods alternate with vineyards and olive groves, in a landscape dotted with Romanesque churches, farmhouses, villas and castles.
We’ll continue to Siena, where our local and expert guide will lead you through its steep medieval streets, admiring the splendid palaces until we will reach the Cathedral (interior), Palazzo Comunale (City Hall) and Piazza del Campo where the Palio race takes place every year. Then free time for lunch (excluded) and shopping.
We will continue to San Gimignano, one of the most fascinating examples of medieval towns, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The tour escort will lead you in the heart of the village and you will have free time to discover the beautiful squares, buildings, churches and suggestive alleyways and to shop. Before departing you will taste the “best ice cream in the world” that won the last two editions of the Ice Cream World Championship. Finally we’ll stop in a farm house, where you’ll taste some of the best Tuscan wines with a little snack of sliced cold meats, bruschetta and cheese. Return in Florence and by train to the town of your stay. Dinner and overnight (*).

DAY 6 – Day off
Breakfast in hotel and free time at disposal. Dinner and overnight in hotel. (*)

DAY 7 – 5 Terre (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday)
Breakfast in Hotel and departure for the guided visit of 5 Terre. The escorted tour starts from Montecatini Terme by coach. A whole, intense, unforgettable day dedicated to discover one of the most enchanting landscapes in the World. Five villages, suspended between sea and land, hanging from sheer cliffs surrounded by hills and vineyards.
Upon arrival in Manarola we’ll have free time to discover the little village: later a local train will take us to the second village Riomaggiore for a pleasant stop to admire local beauties. We will proceed by boat to Monterosso, an ancient fishing village considered “the pearl of the Cinque Terre”, where you will be overcome by enchanting beaches and luxuriant vegetation that surrounds the little village. Here you will have free time to plunge into the crystal sea and eat a typical Ligurian light lunch (included).
We’ll continue to Vernazza where we will admire the intricate layout of this village with its “carrugi” (narrow lanes) and steep stairways. After the visit in Vernazza we will reach La Spezia where our bus is waiting for us to come back to Montecatini or Florence.
In addition to comfortable clothes, we recommend to have with you a swimwear and a hat to protect you against the sun…!!!
